Today’s word is a ‘Biodiversity‘.
So, what does biodiversity mean?
Biodiversity, short for biological diversity, refers to all the different life forms on Earth, including plants, animals, fungi and microorganisms. It also includes the ecosystems they create and the habitats they inhabit.
Do you know? The rainforests, like the Amazon, are biodiversity hotspots. In just one hectare of forest, you can find more than 750 types of trees and 1500 species of butterflies.
Human activities and climate change have increased the rate of biodiversity loss by 100-1000 times. Each year 1000 species go extinct.
